The Amazing Kreskin Joins The Crew Of
Mentalist Kreskin to film pilot on Indiana
Hopes to interest Major network
The famed mentalist and performer will visit the Vincennes facility Friday with a camera crew to shoot a pilot he hopes to sell to a major television network.
Kreskin said he became determined to get the western Indiana museum some national recognition after he came to Vincennes in October for a performance and visited the extensive collection of military memorabilia with Judge Jim Osborne, its founder and curator.
“I was only able to spend an hour there, but I could have spent days,” Kreskin, 80, told the Vincennes Sun-Commercial (http://bit.ly/1GShyCj ). “I’ve traveled all over the world, from New Zealand to Saudi Arabia, seen many things, but it was one of the most remarkable.
“It’s almost like he has captured the history of our country.”
Kreskin and Osborne said the TV pilot will focus on the stories behind the collection, which includes weapons, armor, vehicles and aircraft dating from the Civil War, along with uniforms worn by Gen. George Patton, Gen. Colin Powell and Panamanian military leaderManuel Noriega.
“We’ll be talking about each piece, their significance, the important role they played in history and what makes them fascinating and unusual,” Osborne said. “It’s really exciting. This will certainly be a chance for the museum to get some nationwide attention and publicity.”
Kreskin said he wants to teach children about major historical events and conflicts because he doesn’t think they get as much of that in school due to an increased focus on standardized testing and measurement.
“I do hope there is an awakening of something that has become dormant,” he said. “We’re no longer studying history in this country the way we should. And if we do not learn from our history, we will live it over again.”
